Woo Its a keeper!! Yay!! Finally one that Slade and I like! And it was good the first time I printed it!! YAY!!! And I'm taking pictures with Hannah this weekend so hopefully I'll get some more good ones since Hannah is amazing. :) I heart Hannah.

More portraits from internet

So I don't really like the first picture of the girl very much because it looks like they just wanted to make her look pretty. I just put it on here because I like the dark blacks and the light whites. I like the second one better. It tells me a story of the little boy. He is so young and he can't do basically anything for himself, which is why he has parents. The hands that are holding the boy up show that they will take care of him and love him. The ring on the finger shows that he is married, so there will be a mother and father for this child. The child seems comfortable in his hands, and it gives me a feeling that the baby will be a good kid as he grows up.

Portraits Portraits Who loves Portraits?

I like this picture because I like her facial expression. I like how her laugh and smile shoes throughout her body. I love how her noes crinkles up and she just just happy. The background is gray I know. By the way I like portraits and I like looking at mine if they are good.. I just don't like taking them because the person always moves which is sometimes good but sometimes not. Also, like Hannah and other people skin tones are hard to decide how light or dark they should be. Samantha has freckles and if you get it too dark you can't see them but you don't want it too light either. Gotta keep working... practice makes perfect. or so they say..

Still Working on Portraits

So I'm still working on the pictures I took of Samantha. I really need to get some good ones because I'm just working on these that I don't really like and neither does Slade. I am going to shoot tonight and trust my histogram instead of the monogram and I try to get more light and get close and focus better. Hopefully I will get better and this portrait taking thing because it is bugging me a little.. but thats ohkay. I still heart photo and blogging!!

Samantha Portrait

So I've been taking tons of pictures of Samantha and she is getting tired of me taking pictures of her. However, I still need to take them and get them better and yeah.. This portraits assignment is starting to get on my nerves because I just aghsadlkf yeahh I can't think of any good ideas for this assignment. This is the first picture that Slade kind of likes but it still isn't as sharp as he wants. I also need to work on getting more light.. which is a problem which is why I need to keep working on that. So this is what I have right now.. it will get better.. I hope..

Portraits I found on the Internet

So I found these on the internet. I like them for different reasons. I like the boy with the swan because the background is not competing for attention like Slade likes. It also tells a story because you don't see many people just holding swans, so I think its interesting. I like the jumping boy because his shadow looks cool. I like how he is looking at his shadow because he seems to think its so cool... even though its like always there. He just realized that it will do whatever he does. I like the last one because its what Slade is saying about the background not being distracting at all. It makes the face stand out because it is so light and then the neck just fades into the background. Its sort of a mystery because all you can see is the face and hand, you don't know what is going on in the darkness, I think that is cool.

Assignment #3 High Key/Low Key

So I didn't really like this assignment at the begginning because I had no idea what to take pictures of. But as I started taking more and more I realized that many things that you wouldn't think of could become high or low key. I really started getting close and looking at things from different angles and different lights hoping to get something good. After going back and reshooting and getting many pictures I realized that the first ones you take are almost never the best you can get. Also, bracketing helps a ton. This makes it so that you don't have to rescue images, just pick the best exposure and then you don't have to do much in photoshop. I ended up liking this assignment okay, but I can't decide if I like high or low key better. They were pretty much the same for me.

Another High Key.. sorta

So I like this high key too... but it has a lot of black. If there was a little less black but you could still see that it was a face I think that would be really cool.

So I was just searching the internet looking for some good high or low key pictures and I found this one. I really like it.. it just gives me this feeling. The guy said that he took pictures trying to show feelings and impresssions and I think this picture does a good job of that.

Hm...

So I'm not a huge fan of this picture, but I love the texture. It is pretty sharp and the needles and sand look pretty cool. I burnt the post thing on the corner and the very edge on the right on the wood. I think it looks better now. I am getting better at the burning and dodging thing.

So..

This high key/low key thing I believe will be kinda fun. I already took a good shot that I like and so does Mr. Slade! Go figure!! But I need to shoot it again and bracket to get the perfect exposure. It is a twig in snow and is called survivor and is not at all what Mr. Slade's picture was like because it is one twig in a snow pot and his is a big field of snow with a few trees. It is not survivor.

Burning Failure

So this was my first burning practice. It did not go well. On the top there was a pure white that I wanted to get rid of, but its very hard since there is like no information there. It wouldn't get much lighter, so some places are darker and some are still pure white. But, hopefully I will get better at this. Like Estie. She's perfect. :)

Lamp Handle Feathered Soft and Sharp

Okay I do not like this at all. And I'm not sure I understand how to do this feathering but Mr. Slade said it didn't have to be a work of art.. so I'll just deal with it. The bottom right is kind of glowing, because it is feathered very soft.

This is a hard feather and my laso job was not very good because there is a black strip but I didn't have much time and I'm still learning how to do this.
